The kidneys perform a variety of roles in the body, including the removal of waste matter and toxins. Being the unsung heroes in the body, the kidneys regulate the acid levels, potassium and salt level in the body. It also produces Vitamin D to maintain your bone health, keeps the blood pressure in check and controls the red blood cell production.

The symptoms of kidney failure or the signs of kidney failure are very mild and till the time you suspect kidney failure, it has done major harm to your body. It is really scary to note that 90% of the kidney function may be lost without you even noticing any change in the body. To protect your kidneys, you must always keep a check on the blood pressure and the blood sugar level. Renal failure is mostly the result of diabetes and hypertension. However, let us check out some signs of kidney failure.

Rapid weight gain from fluid buildup

The primary function of the kidney is to eliminate the toxic compounds and the waste matter from the body. But, if the kidney fails to perform its function, there will be fluid retention in the body. This will cause a swelling in the body tissue.

Less often urination

If more fluids are stuck up in the tissues, less fluid will be eliminated from the body. So, if toxins do not flush out of the body system, you will urinate less often.

Sleepiness and fatigue

Kidney regulates hemoglobin in the body. But, when the kidney fails to perform its role of regulating the hemoglobin in the body, you feel tired and sleepy all the while. Your energy levels will move down and you may almost feel anemic.

Lack of clear thinking, losing appetite and feeling nauseated

When the kidney fails to flush out the toxins and waste build up in the body, it can cause a mess with other parts of the body. You may start eating less, lose your appetite and feel nauseated all the while. It will affect the functioning of your stomach and brain with the result that you lack in focus and have difficulty concentrating.

Increase in the blood pressure

When the kidneys are damaged, the organs cannot regulate blood pressure anymore. Thus, the blood pounds against the vessel with a great force and causes more damage to the blood vessels of the kidneys. This is a really scary situation where your kidneys suffer immensely.

The occurrence of flank pain

You may start getting pain in one flank of the body when the kidneys start to fail. The flank region is there between the pelvis and the hip region. The flank area extends to the last rib of your rib cage. This flank pain may even travel to the groin region and the testicles.

If you notice any of the above warning signs, you must immediately take medical help. There can be various other symptoms of kidney failure besides the above mentioned signs. You must immediately start following specialized kidney diet under the supervision of a kidney specialist.

  1. I felt one Urinate symptom but after doing water therapy it really changed my way. Maybe people should consider drinking a litre water every morning with no intake for 1 hours. It really helps guys trust me 🙂

  2. Selim Reza says:

Healthy kidneys make a hormone called erythropoietin (a-rith’- ro-po’- uh-tin), or EPO, that tells your body to make oxygen-carrying red blood cells. As the kidneys fail, they make less EPO. With fewer red blood cells to carry oxygen, your muscles, and brain tire very quickly. This is anemia, and it can be treated.

  3. Zoe Campos says:

Thanks for telling me that urinating less than usual might be a sign of kidney failure. I used to pee several times in the day and now it is limited to at least three times along with the occasional flank pain that you mentioned. I guess it’s time for me to seek a doctor and have myself examined for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
