There are various home remedies that may be used for toothache relief. If you use home remedies for a toothache, you will save a lot of money. When the dental pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed, the pain occurs. There are sensitive blood vessels and sensitive nerves that make up the tooth pulp. A toothache may be caused due to a variety of reasons like cracked tooth, cavities, ulcers in the gum, receding gums or sinusitis. However, if you experience the pain for 2-3 days continuously, you will need to visit the dentist. Home remedies for a toothache may be used when the emergency dentist is not available.

Salt water rinsing can give quick relief

You may warm one glass of water and add a teaspoon of salt. The mixture may be used to rinse the mouth. The home remedy will help to reduce the swelling in your gums and give relief from the pain. It can effectively fight bacterial infection.

The use of peppermint tea bags

Pudina or peppermint is used in many homes as the culinary spice. Only a few people know that pudina has medicinal properties to reduce the pain in the teeth. It can stave off bacterial infection. You may rest the peppermint tea bag in the cup of boiling water for around 20 minutes. After the mixture is cool, you may rinse your mouth or swish it around the mouth. There are astringent tannins in it to get rid of the pain.

Use hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is the anti-microbial tooth wash which is extremely effective. You may take a cup of water and mix 3% of hydrogen peroxide to swish the solution in the mouth for 30 seconds. Repeat the process for once or twice in a day to get a quick relief. This is the best solution if you want to ward off gingivitis. It is important to note that you are not supposed to ingest this solution at all. This may cause intestinal problems.

Ice cubes in a plastic bag

So, when you have that sharp toothache, you may take ice cubes in the plastic bag and rest on your jaws. This must be applied to the aching tooth for around 10-15 minutes. Another unorthodox treatment is rubbing ice on your hands. Ice, when rubbed on your hands, will send cold signals towards the brain to ward off the pain.

Make use of garlic

Garlic is again used for food preparation and you may not know that it has medicinal properties. Being an antibiotic, garlic may inhibit the growth of bacteria. Just mash a few garlic cloves, add salt and apply the paste to the aching tooth.

Acupuncture treatment helps

Acupuncture is accepted widely in the healthcare community. To say bye-bye to a throbbing toothache, one can use the acupuncture treatment.

Kill the germs with onion

Onion bears antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It may kill germs to provide quick relief from a toothache. You can chew the onion to get relief. Apart from this, you may also place the pieces of raw onion on the aching gum or tooth.

You may use any 2-3 remedies to get rid of a toothache.

It really helped when you said that I should rinse my mouth with a warm glass of water and a teaspoon of salt. The pain subsided for now, but I’m thinking that it might get worse. It would be better to visit a dental office tomorrow morning just to get checked by a professional.
