Cooking a delicious meal isn’t difficult if you know exactly which spices, ingredients, and herbs to put in the food. Adding the right spice or herb can make a significant difference in the taste of the food.

If you feel that the food that you make has become monotonous, here are some of the amazing kitchen ingredients which you can use to add to different flavor to your food.

Parsley

Any dish which is tomato based, or possesses a predominant tomato or garlic flavor, can be enhanced with the use of parsley. Parsley is a wonder herb that can enhance the taste of pasta, bread, and especially garlic bread.

 

Rosemary

Rosemary is another herb which is a perfect addition to some of the spicy dishes. The pine fragrance of the rosemary can greatly augment the taste of chicken when added to its marination. Also, rosemary is an ideal addition to roasted potatoes, asparagus, lamb dishes and dipping sauces.

Garlic

If you don’t hate the smell of garlic, then, you can enhance almost every dish with garlic. It perfectly enhances the flavor and fragrance of marinations made for the roasted meats and tikkas, like chicken tikka, paneer tikka, lamb tikka etc.

If fresh garlic isn’t available, you can also add the garlic powder to get the similar effect. Moreover, garlic is one of the best antioxidants, which enhance the health quotient of the food too.

 

Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek)

If you love Indian and Mughlai food, then nothing can be better than the taste of the food with the Kasuri methi flavoring. Any curry based Indian dish like paneer makhani, butter chicken, dum aloo or others taste best when a little Kasuri methi is added to them.

Fresh Mint Leaves

All yogurt based dishes and biryanis taste better when fresh mint leaves are added to them. However, one needs to be very careful while using the mint, because, overuse of mint may make the taste of the dish bitter.

Citrus Juices

You can add a touch of tanginess to both your desserts and other dishes by adding the citrus juices like lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice or grapefruit juice. A little lemon juice can add an exquisite flavor and aroma to the dishes. Even if any of your regular dishes isn’t tasting mice, you can try to add a few drops of lemon and check the difference. For instance, if your curry has become too sweet, you can add a few drops of the lemon juice.

The best part is that if you want to add these to your desserts, you can cook the juices and reduce them to enhance the flavor. Moreover, lemon and honey are an amazing dressing for your salads too.

Paprika

If you love the spiciness in the food, but, don’t want to add the red chili powder or flakes, you can add paprika for a subtle yet spicy flavor. Paprika is an amazing substitute for red chili powder as it spices up the dishes without being too harsh.
